Sunday Morning Birdwalks: Fall 2019
Celebrating Our 75th Year of Birding!
Sundays, Sept 1 – Oct 27, 2019
7:30am – 9am
Anita Purves Nature Center
Meet in the Anita Purves Nature Center parking lot at 7:30am. Walks officially last about 1 1/2 hours (though some folks stay later if the birding is good).
The Sunday Morning Bird Walks started in the 1940’s. Birders of all skill levels are welcome!
We begin every week at the Anita Purves Nature Center parking lot and then decide whether to walk into Crystal Lake Park or Busey Woods.
These parks play host to 36 species of warblers every spring as well as large numbers of vireos, thrushes, orioles and tanagers.
Sundays Sept 1 – Oct 27, 7:15-9:45am
Birds, Binoculars and Beverages
Stop by before or after the Sunday Morning Birds Walks when the Anita Purves Nature Center will be open early to visitors and birders. Don’t have binoculars? They will be available for loan at the nature center. After the birdwalk, enjoy coffee, light snacks and conversation while you observe birds from the Wildlife Observation Room, explore the exhibits in the Field Station or shop in the Audubon Nature Shop.
Bird walks are held on Sunday mornings during the spring and fall migration seasons:
March-May & September-October
