CCAS Field Trip to Lake Renwick

  • P.O. Box 882 Urbana, IL 61802 United States (map)

Join us as we take a field trip to Lake Renwick Preserve during their Migratory Birds Viewing event! There we will view one of the largest heron rookeries in Illinois, and according to the Illinois Audubon Society, it is "by far the most valuable rookery in all of Illinois"! Nesting great blue herons, double crested cormorants, and great egrets, different species of gulls, herons, and ducks, and different species of warblers are just some of the birds we will be able to see during the field trip! We will meet at the Anita Purves Nature Center at 7:30 where we will carpool to the Lake Renwick Nature Center. It is about two hours away from the Nature Center. One spotting scope will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own scope as well!
